Grant's Moment... ;-)
A concert review by Ralf Willemsen:
On the evening
of the 26th of November the three of us, Dirk, Ludger and I, went
to Rijssen. We live close to the Dutch border, so we already
arrived after 80 minutes. At first we didn't know if we were
right, no posters or anything mentioning SAILOR and The Rubettes.
The parking area was quite empty too. So we asked at the box
office.
Having payed 15,- each we went inside and saw the
Nickelodeon on the stage. The anticipation grew. At 9 pm there
weren't enough people in the venue, so some CDs were played.
At 9.50 pm SAILOR finally came on stage and started off. I wanted
to write down the songs, but the mood got better and better and
finally the dance floor was full, I was in the middle and the pen
was far far away. Anyway, songs like "Traffic Jam",
"Girls Girls Girls", "A Glass Of Champagne",
"Josephine Baker", "Vera From Veracruz",
"Karma Chameleon", "Blame It On The Soft
Spot", "La Cumbia", "The Old Nickelodeon
Sound", "The Secretary",
..were played
perfectly.
The good thing about this night was the freedom of movement, you
didn't have to remain seated on your chair, what would have been
really difficult because of the super music.
After the last song they did their Titanic-performance: half a
strip with the whole crew on stage. Especially the female
visitors who held the majority that night.
After the stage was cleared and a few CDs were played it was time
for The Rubettes. They didn't have any problems to heat up the
modd again with the already warmed-up fans. I also have some
vinyls from this band, so that I really liked the combination of
SAILOR / Rubettes.
After Rob, Peter, Phil and Grant had relaxed a little, they
signed some autographs and also sold merchandise for the fans.
It was yet another great SAILOR-night, that should be repeated
soon.
