A concert review by Uli Neumann:

Once again it was a concert hosted by "NDR 1 Radio MV, once again it was in Mecklenburg, and oce again there had been a change in the SAILOR line-up. At least this was the case for me, as last time happened to be the last concert with Peter Lincoln, whereas this time it was to be the first time for me to see Nick(las) Parvin as SAILOR's captain. But let's start at the beginning.
I had to work until 3 pm on this Friday, the show was to start at 6 pm, but there was no information available about when SAILOR were going to perform. So it was rather annoying to see my arrival time move from half an hour before the beginning of the show to half an hour afterwards on my navigation system, partly even more due to road works, diversions and traffic jams which caused a longer driving time. At least I could make up a bit of time again by driving a little faster than usual.
In Schwerin there were no useful signs leading to the location of the event, even though this happened to be the huge area of the "Bundesgartenschau" Nice passers-by couldn't just explain the way to me but even lead me to a free parking area at the finance office. Don't they usually want money? ;-)
After 6 pm, admission was 10 Euros, during the day it would have been even more. To my mind people should rather save their money, any better farmer's market shows more flowers.
In front of some kind of amphitheatre, a stage was constructed. Directly in front of the stage there were almost no visitors, on the tiers sat some 500 bored-looking people. No familiar faces among these. The radio station had presented a countdown hit parade during the last days, the "top 10" were presented on stage, accompanied by some lightly dressed dancers (in spite pf the low temperature). The hosts were dressed "strictly seventies" and played inflatable guitars during the show. A live-band also played some of the songs. No signs of SAILOR, no Nickelodeon behind the stage, but they had been announced on the radio on our journey here.
Before SAILOR, a coverband calle "The Clogs" was on stage who played several titles in glam-rock style. Not bad, but where were SAILOR?
On the stage I could see a portable keyboard. The four guys wouldn't have travelled here without the Fakelodeon, which is about to fall apart in the meantime anyway? Phil had used such a portable keyboard before in the 70s. One never knows what to expect in the case of SAILOR...
But then, at about 10 pm, it was finally time for the Fakelodeon or what is left of it to be set up (some parts of the roof and the entire back are missing), and then the four SAILORs entered the stage - Phil and Henry at the Nickelodeon, Thomas Marsh replacing Grant for probably the last time and of course the new captain "Nick" Nicklas Parvin. His outfit was very close to the one of the incomparable Georg Kajanus once again (and at last). He knew all the lyrics perfectly, the voice fitted in perfectly too, it sounded very harmonically. Nick fits into the band very well. His voice is not as powerful as the voice of Ollie, that would be impudent, the "picking" on the guitar is developable compared to Georg. Nick has a lot of potential to become a fantastic front-man for SAILOR.
The set list should be reworked sometime, more original SAILOR songs and they should try something new, maybe "Estepona" or something from "Kajanus revealed". For the beginning there has to be a set to start with, but we're curious to see what the future will bring.
The set list is mentiones separately, it was a fantastic concert, and the four SAILORs had lots of fun too. Unfortunately the show was only about one hour long and I had to drive back home to Heide for another two hours. Afterwards I found out that Phil had had a serious cold, which I hadn't noticed during the show, he'd done a fantastic job like all the others. Thank you boys.
Thanks to Phil, Henry, Thomas and Nick, I'm looking forward to the next time.
After the concert I had a two-hour-drive back to Heide, where, we all remember it, the unforgettable headline concert in April had taken place at the car dealership Stotzem. Good old Klaus had a serious accident with his motorcycle. In the meantime he's quite fit and partly back at work again. without him this concert would never have happened, so I think we should think of him here as well, shouldn't we?
