New Christmas song and Musical by Rob Alderton

"A new one woman musical - part theatre and part gig!A year in the life of Jessica Delaney - she's funny. hapless and easy to like.
This is a year in the life of one Jessica Delaney. But not just any year… This is the year in which she meets Gino Corsetti, and falls in love for the first time - as much to her surprise as anyone else’s! Not long out of university, she’s stuck in a dead-end job and looks for excitement wherever she can find it. She’s funny, outgoing, and wears her heart on her sleeve."

Ex-SAILOR Rob Alderton has created this lovely new Musical called "This Is Jess". Its Christmas song "You're The One I Want For Christmas" will get you into the Christmas mood in no time. The warm positive song is just what we all need right now. You can get it on on iTunes or Amazon and all the usual online places. Check it out!

05 September 2020:

New FRONTM3N DVD released this month
"Up Close - Live 2020"
with Pete Lincoln (known from SAILOR, The Sweet), Peter Howarth (known from The Hollies) and Mick Wilson (known from 10CC)

Who doesn't want to sit down, relax and just enjoy something right now?! This works best with the FRONTM3N. The concert recordings contained here from January 2020, recorded in the beautiful Admiralspalast in Berlin, captured a concert of the three gentlemen, which not only contains the greatest hits of their previous bands (Pete Lincoln is known from The Sweet and SAILOR, Mick Wilson from 10 CC and Peter Howarth from The Hollies), but also includes FRONTM3N's own compositions, which fit seamlessly into the program. The extraordinary acoustic versions that the three play are always impressive. In addition, there were two special guests at this show, namely Eric Martin from MR. BIG, who performs some of his greatest hits together with FRONTM3N ("To Be With You", "Wild World" etc.), as well as Nevio Passaro (including "Amore Per Semper") and a few more surprises. All in all the ultimate musical all-round carefree package to enjoy again and again. But that's not all, because there is also a 100-minute documentary about the band, which includes everything from the beginnings at a small concert in the Krefeld Kulturfabrik (here even with a fan camera - from your webmaster here ;-)) up to the current tour in early 2020. A loving summary that not only pays tribute to the band but also to guests and the great crew that made it all possible.
Highly recommended!

You can either get a double live CD, a double DVD or BluRay, or you can get the wonderful limited deluxe edition box containing all ot those.

Tracklist:
I Can't Let Go, CoCo / Poppa Joe, The Things We Do For Love, Open Up, Love Is Like Oxygen, Solid Ground, All At Sea, Amore Per Sempre (feat. Nevio Passaro), Sentimental Fool (Quando é sentimento) (feat. Nevio Passaro), You Got It, Some People, Priceless, Rubber Bullets, Bus Stop, Fox On The Run, Good Morning Judge, Donna*, He Ain't Heavy He’s My Brother*, Girls Girls Girls*, Carrie, Wild World (feat. Eric Martin), Long Way Down (feat. Eric Martin), To Be With You (feat. Eric Martin), Fall For You, I’m Not In Love (feat. Nevio Passaro), Ballroom Blitz, Long Cool Woman (feat. Eric Martin), The Air That I Breathe, Your Own Worst Enemy, Dreadlock Holiday
*only on DVD & BluRay

17 November 2019:

's Oliver Marsh live in Dinslaken last Friday

We couldn't make it to captain Oliver Marsh's show in Dinslaken (Germany) on Friday, but fortunately there are always people out there to share their photos and reports about the event. So here is one by Knut-Olaf Müller (quick translation by me). You can find the original link with more photos below:

Captain Oliver Marsh boards the Christmas market Neutor

With their distinctive Nickeloden sound Georg Kajanus, Henry Marsh, Philip Pickett and Grant Serpell - better known as the band SAILOR, celebrated big musical success in the mid 1970s. Their most successful LP over here, "Trouble", alone remained in the German charts for 40 weeks in 1975 and reached number 3 of the best-selling albums at that time.

Although without the theatrical stage shows and the "custom-designed all-purpose machine, the constituents of which were two upright pianos, two synthesizers, mini organs and glockenspiels all mechanically linked and contained within a wooden frame" (Henry Marsh) known from TV appearances, but instead with an extraordinary opera voice, captain Oliver Marsh - son of SAILOR co-founder Henry Marsh - took the audience at the Christmas market Neutor on a (unfortunately way too short) time travel to the 1970s on Friday evening in Dinslaken. In addition to SAILOR evergreens like "A Glass Of Champagne", Give Me Shakespeare" One Drink Too Many", "Stiletto Heels" and of course "Girls Girls Girls", Oliver Marsh especially impressed the audience with his moving "Con To Partirò".

Pete Lincoln leaving The Sweet

Ex-SAILOR-captain Pete Lincoln will leave The Sweet after 13 years as their frontman at the end of May 2019. Here's his statement about it from 09 April 2019:

"Things change. Life goes on. After thirteen great years which have flown past in the blink of an eye, the Sweet’s ‘Still Got The Rock’ tour in May will be my last with this fantastic band.
It’s been a fascinating ride filled with music, laughter and great memories. I have met many wonderful friends and fans along the way, and will always value my time spent fronting The Sweet.
Of course I’m not retiring and will continue my involvement with FRONTM3N and solo projects. The time is simply right for us all to make this change.
I wish Andy, Bruce and Tony the very best for the future continuation of this most iconic of bands, and thank them for their friendship and cameraderie on the road. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish my mate Paul Manzi well in his new role - I know he’ll do a marvellous job.
We are, and will remain, firm friends and I’m sure I’ll be making a return appearance from time to time, so this is by no means a forever goodbye!
Pete"

After all those marvellous SAILOR times we also enjoyed 13 fantastic years with "Sweet Pete" - THANK YOU Pete!! On the right you can see just a few impressions of the fun times we had (all photos © Katrin & Karsten Wagner 2006 - 2019).

We're all looking forward to enjoying Pete Lincoln with the extraordinary FRONTM3N (www.frontm3n.de) as well as solo (www.petelincoln.com).

11 June 2017:

's Oliver Marsh at the R.SA Festival in Schwarzenberg

Yesterday, SAILOR were meant to play at the R.SA Festival in Schwarzenberg (Germany) for the first time in over 3 years. But the band only consists of Henry Marsh and Oliver Marsh at the moment after Phil Pickett's departure last year. And Henry recently had a hip operation from which he is still recovering. So, instead of cancelling, captain Oliver took on the difficult and brave job of entertaining the enormous crowd at the Schwarzenberg festival on his own, with a backing track made by Henry especially for the occasion that included the rest of the music and his backing vocals.
The audience ended up being so impressed by Oliver's voice that the crowd requested an additional encore and he sang a second "Con Te Partirò".
You can see some photos and also my first video bits of this impressive special day below. Enjoy!

Videos:

  • Here are some first impressions of SAILOR's Oliver Marsh in Schwarzenberg (Germany) on 10 June 2017 - some bits "A Glass Of Champagne", "The Secretary", "Girls Girls Girls", "La Cumbia" and the big finale with "Con Te Partirò" - performed twice because the audience couldn't get enough of his voice:

"Handmade" the radio show now hosted by Katrin Wagner
with regular SAILOR and SAILOR-related music

As you may know my brother Karsten created and hosted his own radio show "Handmade" at our local radio station "Freies Radio Kassel" for almost 17 years. After his death in October 2016 I didn't want his proud project to fall silent, so that you can now listen to me every second Wednesday from 8 pm CET on. In commemoration of Karsten, my version of "Handmade" will continue to play all kinds of handmade music, stories about concerts we saw and much much more.
Of course it will also include SAILOR and SAILOR-related music every week.
The next show on Wednesday 08 March 2017 will feature some rarities of SAILOR and Georg Kajanus, and also music from Pete Lincoln.

You can listen to "Handmade" every second Wednesday in even weeks, 8 - 9 pm CET
in and around Kassel via radio: UKW 105,8 MHz
and worldwide via live-stream at

27 December 2016:

Phil Pickett has left

The following words are taken from the 2016 re-release of the book "SAILOR - The Official Biography" by James McCarraher, page 255.
I found this message about Phil having decided to leave the band when I got and read the book a little while ago. Obviously something to share here. So this is what Phil says in the book:

"(...) With Georg deciding to give up live performances in 1995 and being replaced by the formidable virtuosity of Pete Lincoln, and afterwards other personnel changes over subsequent years including the arrival at various times of both of Henry's supremely talented sons, Tom, on drums, and Ollie, on lead vocals, I soldiered (or 'sailored!') on as the ship's anchorman throughout all these changes, having been (as recently reminded by Henry) the only consistent member of SAILOR since its formation in 1973. The sheer fun, laughter and special companionship of these years still make me smile every day of my life.
All referred to above are my dearest friends and I love them to bits, but sadly in regard to performing in future, all good things have to come to an end at some time, and earlier this year I too the decision with a heavy heart to no longer take part in live shows having given the performance aspect of my career the best part of my life for the last 40 years. Primarily, my decision was due not just to the question of 'Am I too old to be doing this?' (which is rubbish - as long as the audiences are there, why on earth not if you can still stand up!) but also due to regularly growing management and recording committments - that, and a need after 40 years to occasionally enjoy home life at weekends and not in a tent somewhere in Northern Europe!
But how can one 'leave' something that is so firmly embedded in one's soul? Or the part that I have played in the unique, revolutionary and incomparable musical adventure that is SAILOR? This is something I find very hard to imagine. Also having such close association with the name for so long, I supposed it's hard to use the word 'never' when it comes to recording again - or even on a VERY special occasion, perhaps even a 'final' performance somewhere if the circumstances were exceptional. We will see...
But right now, this is a special moment for me to share with you and savour as I thank everyone in the SAILOR family, especially my band colleagues, all those that over the years have helped SAILOR in a professional capacity, my own family, James, who has written this book you are reading - and above all, the loyalty and devotion of our many fans... from the bottom of my heart, thank your for making all of the music possible."
Phil Pickett June 22nd 2016

After this message, James' book continues by saying "SAILOR will continue, with Henry and Ollie at the helm. Coming to a theatre near you..."

Obviously this means that there will be some kind of new SAILOR out there on the stages for us. As soon as I know anything more about the how, where and when, you will of course find the information at this place right here.

We'll miss you aboard the SAILOR ship, Phil. Thanks for so many shows and years of music and fun and special memories. Thanks for being the only band member who was there at all my 118 SAILOR concerts. Ahoy!

All the best for the new year and thanks for your support of this little fan-website!
