's Oliver Marsh live in Dinslaken last Friday

We couldn't make it to captain Oliver Marsh's show in Dinslaken (Germany) on Friday, but fortunately there are always people out there to share their photos and reports about the event. So here is one by Knut-Olaf Müller (quick translation by me). You can find the original link with more photos below:

Captain Oliver Marsh boards the Christmas market Neutor

With their distinctive Nickeloden sound Georg Kajanus, Henry Marsh, Philip Pickett and Grant Serpell - better known as the band SAILOR, celebrated big musical success in the mid 1970s. Their most successful LP over here, "Trouble", alone remained in the German charts for 40 weeks in 1975 and reached number 3 of the best-selling albums at that time.

Although without the theatrical stage shows and the "custom-designed all-purpose machine, the constituents of which were two upright pianos, two synthesizers, mini organs and glockenspiels all mechanically linked and contained within a wooden frame" (Henry Marsh) known from TV appearances, but instead with an extraordinary opera voice, captain Oliver Marsh - son of SAILOR co-founder Henry Marsh - took the audience at the Christmas market Neutor on a (unfortunately way too short) time travel to the 1970s on Friday evening in Dinslaken. In addition to SAILOR evergreens like "A Glass Of Champagne", Give Me Shakespeare" One Drink Too Many", "Stiletto Heels" and of course "Girls Girls Girls", Oliver Marsh especially impressed the audience with his moving "Con To Partirò".

SAILOR captain Oliver Marsh sang a the "Lichtermarkt" in Essen-Steele, Germany, on 02 November 2019. He sang mostly SAILOR songs and even something rare - "Stiletto Heels" - which (if I'm not mistaken) I hadn't heard live since January 1997.

22 May 2019:

Pete Lincoln leaving The Sweet

Ex-SAILOR-captain Pete Lincoln will leave The Sweet after 13 years as their frontman at the end of May 2019. Here's his statement about it from 09 April 2019:

"Things change. Life goes on. After thirteen great years which have flown past in the blink of an eye, the Sweet’s ‘Still Got The Rock’ tour in May will be my last with this fantastic band.
It’s been a fascinating ride filled with music, laughter and great memories. I have met many wonderful friends and fans along the way, and will always value my time spent fronting The Sweet.
Of course I’m not retiring and will continue my involvement with FRONTM3N and solo projects. The time is simply right for us all to make this change.
I wish Andy, Bruce and Tony the very best for the future continuation of this most iconic of bands, and thank them for their friendship and cameraderie on the road. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish my mate Paul Manzi well in his new role - I know he’ll do a marvellous job.
We are, and will remain, firm friends and I’m sure I’ll be making a return appearance from time to time, so this is by no means a forever goodbye!
Pete"

After all those marvellous SAILOR times we also enjoyed 13 fantastic years with "Sweet Pete" - THANK YOU Pete!! On the right you can see just a few impressions of the fun times we had (all photos © Katrin & Karsten Wagner 2006 - 2019).

We're all looking forward to enjoying Pete Lincoln with the extraordinary FRONTM3N (www.frontm3n.de) as well as solo (www.petelincoln.com).
